Health Insurance–Its History
It was in 1964, when Hugh the Elder Chamberlen proposed the concept of health insurance. Several years later, by late 19th century, accident insurance became available for the people–it is similar to the present day disability insurance. The health insurance industry came into existence during the middle to late 20th century. It covered not only accidents, but also preventive, routing and emergency health care procedures. In some prescription drugs are even covered by the insurance.
